The phalaenopsis orchids and ivory French tulips were really showing their stuff today.

I met Rosa through an Independent Wedding Association (of which I am a proud member) Wedding Fair in 2010. Coincidentally, the fair was at the Varsity Theater where Rosa and William decided to have their reception. I cannot say enough good things about this venue. It has completely won me over throughout the years with its incredible architecture, lighting, color scheme and eclectic atmosphere. Funny though, how one of my very favorite venues really doesn’t require the help of a floral designer to make it cool. Ironic, eh? Just goes to show, if you choose the right location, you can save in other areas of the wedding budget, ie: flowers.
It doesn’t matter to me. I love this place.
The bride chose a red and purple color scheme for the wedding party flowers to mesh well with the already beautiful reception site.
I used purple/green kale, purple stock and red roses for the bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres.
The cake flowers are magenta Sumatra lilies. They are almost as stunning as Rosa’s blue eyes.

Southwest Metro Magazine came over today to photograph four bouquets. I am giving you a peek of two here. The rest will be revealed in their annual Weddings Issue for September 2011. Just around the corner, if you can believe it! Tom made the perfect iced tea for all of us working in the yard. One of the chickens even had her photo taken. Thank you Bret, Emily and Kerry for this very creative shoot.
Getting a talented photographer to photograph my designs is one thing. Getting two at the same time is heaven. Lauren of Ariel Photography sent these over from the recent Blushing Room shoot and the images are simply beautiful. It is wonderful and amazing to see this shoot through another photographer’s lens. My appreciation for the art of photography continues to grow and I think designing flowers is way easier. But that’s just me.

Winning isn’t everything, but it sure would have been cool. Next year, perhaps? Being nominated for a MN Bride Magazine 2011 Best of Floral award was one of the best and most humbling achievements of my floral career. All of the support and kind words from friends, family, vendors and peers has been heart warming and exhilarating. I love my work and I want to keep getting better.
I had a fantastic time at this party. Tom came with me and looked great. It was fun to get all dressed up and clean the dirt out from under my nails.

Juicy watermelon, fresh lime and vibrant orange were on the flower menu for this wedding. So summery and happy. These flowers say “I am going to have a great day.” By the looks of it, they did!
Justin Graddy, of Graddy Photography, is the superman behind these images. I love working with him. He makes some of the most beautiful wedding images I have ever seen. See more of Amy and Max’s wedding here on Graddy Photography’s blog.
Venue: The stunning Carlson Towers Event Center

Erin sent over a few more photos from her beautiful April wedding. I heart peony and turquoise together.

I love this photo shoot. The clematis, peony and tiny, green hydrangea were all from the garden.
Also, I want the lavender dress with black heels.
